Meet the Dockmaster.

David Reutershan, a licensed captain, brings more than 35 years of boating and maritime experience to Danfords Marina located on the Port Jefferson harbor at Danfords Hotel & Marina, a contemporary harbor-side retreat. A graduate from the International Maritime Institute, Captain Reutershan also holds a U.S. Coast Guard license.  He has been a professional captain on various private and corporate yachts sailing from South America to the Arctic Circle and from the Mediterranean to the Americas and navigating thousands of miles on all types of vessels. As the Marina Manager at East Hampton Point Marina & Boatyard in East Hampton, New York, he led all customer service, administration, maintenance and day-to-day operations. Reutershan was also the Marina Manager at Montauk Yacht Club Marina in Montauk, New York, and was responsible for all aspects of the 250-slip resort marina grossing $1.65 million in annual revenue. As managing partner for Sea Tow Solomons, a franchise based international marine assistance organization headquartered in Southold, New York, Captain Reutershan oversaw daily functions, created business plans and proposed budgets, and implemented sales and marketing plan. As launch operator of the Association of Maryland Pilots, he was responsible for the maintenance and operations of two 53-foot pilot vessels.

As Danfords' Dockmaster and Marina Manager, Captain Reutershan is charged with managing the dock, providing a range of personal services from sharing in-depth knowledge of the area to helping boaters chart the best course to their next destination, and serving as a source of information.  Reutershan and his team are not only experts in docking each arriving boat in its proper slip but also ensure that each boater's experience is a great one.
